MACHINE: Standard Every Other Needle as written or bulky Every Needle MATERIALS: 2 to 4 oz of 4 ply (worsted weight) yarn (small amount of contrast if desired) GAUGE: 5 stitches and 7 rows equals 1 inch TENSION: 9.1 or tension necessary to get the gauge. Cast on 29 sts. Rib 32 - 36 rows in 1x1 on every other needle Transfer sts to the main bed and knit 8 rows. Short row the heel in the center of the stitches. Set carriage to HP. Place 1/4 of the sts opposite the carriage into HP. Knit across and place 1/4 of the sts opposite the carriage into HP: Pull 1 needle next to the carriage to HP. knit across and repeat until you have 7 sts left in work. Reverse the shaping by putting 2 needles back into work opposite the carriage, knit a row and place the outside needle back into HP, until all the sts are working. Follow the chart * below to determine the number of rows to knit before decreasing. Decrease using a 7 needle transfer tool or a bulky 3 prong tool. Use just 3 prongs, every other needle. Dec 1 stitch on each side every other row until you have 9 needles left in work. Change color here if you wish. Decrease 1 stitch on each side leaving the empty needle in work position. Pick up the first edge stitch from each side and hang on the empty needle. Knit 2 rows. Repeat until you are back up to where the ribbing started. Bind off the top stitches. Trim the cuff as you wish. *FOR SHOE SIZE: 3 - knit 10 rows for length 8 - knit 20 rows for length 4 - knit 12 rows for length 9 - knit 22 rows for length 5 - knit 14 rows for length 10 - knit 24 rows for length 6 - knit 16 rows for length 11 - knit 26 rows for length 7 - knit 18 rows for length 12 - knit 28 rows for length.
